Women’s History Month Project News : Today I modeled how to take notes and pick out important information from research. On our class Facebook page I have posted pictures of my note taking examples. For tonight students are to pick important facts about their historical woman, and write them down to include in our first paragraph tomorrow. The first paragraph will include facts such as name, hometown, time period they lived in, and briefly what they were famous for. My requirements for a paragraph are a minimum of five sentences, including a topic sentence and a conclusion sentence. Here is an example of what the students will be working on tomorrow… One of the most adventurous women in history is Annie Oakley. Annie lived in the 20th century during the American West Era. People living in this era looked forward to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Tour coming to town. Shooting was not only used as a means to get food, but also as a sport. This shooting sport, however, was for men. The small framed, broad brimmed hat wearing, Annie Oakley did not let this stereotype stop her. She was rather the shows biggest star!
