Wonderful News: Rep Henry Waxman to retire! Architect of Vaccine Court leaves Congress Very little good news for families dealing with autism or vaccine injury ever emanates out of Washington, but we are delighted to announce that Rep. Henry Waxman, architect of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Act (NVICA), announced that after 40 years in Congress he is finally retiring. Waxmans NVICA absolves vaccine makers of all liability for any injury caused by vaccines and created a kangaroo court, the National Vacine Inury Compensation Program, that denies basic legal and constitutional rights to vaccine-injured people and their families. No serious reform or oversight of the NVICP has been possible with the very powerful Waxman still in Congress. With his departure we are cautiously optimistic that greater scrutiny and oversight, and the hope for meaningful reform, will be directed at the NVICP. Waxman has been one of the biggest barriers to reform and he will be gone as of Dec. 31!
