Wonderful witnessing opportunity with LDS missionaries! I was on the train going to work. Two elders came aboard and Elder Otis introduced himself to me. I knew I had five minutes to my stop. After pleasantries were exchanged I share with him that I am a born-again Christian since March 22,1970. I briefly defined the gospel and referenced 1 Corin 15:1-4. I gave Ephesians 2:8-9 and said I am not working to be saved...but my works are an evidence I am saved. I quoted briefly Romans 4 and pointed our that Abraham was declared righteous by faith. I asked Elder Otis Are you righteous by faith right now as Abraham was and complete in Christ? He answered I cannot say I am perfect, but I can say I am heading in the right direction. As I came to my stop I answered I can say I am righteous by faith as Abraham was because of what Gods word say. I am not perfect, but Christ has made me complete. He countered But James says faith without works is dead. As the train door opened and I prepared to exit I said James was writing to Christians to say that works is the evidence that faith is real. I work not to be saved, God saved me so that the works I do is the evidence that He saved me. Pray for Elder Otis that he will look into the Bible for the answers.
