Woodhull Raceway Results and Story May 24, 2014 Griffith Energy and Elkland Moose Night George Williams Memorial Trophy Races Contact: Paul T. Harkenrider Woodhull Raceway Public Relations 607-237-6372|[email protected] BRADY FULTZ WINS GEORGE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL MODIFIED SPECIAL AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY GOODIER, WRITENOUR, MORSEMAN GLEASON, AND AUSTIN ALSO MAIN EVENT WINNER ON ELKLAND MOOSE/ GRIFITH ENERGY NIGHT (Woodhull, NY) Four weeks of small block modified racing at the Woodhull Raceway, four different drivers have made it into Instant Heat Wood Pellets victory lane for the Insinger Performance 370 Modified’s. The 18 car field was led by Brady Fultz, of Rochester where Fultz’s Troyer Race Cars, C.B Butler Heating & Plumbing 70F, jumped out of the gate to a multi-car length advantage until the first caution flew on lap five. Then three cautions occurred within two laps where that did not affect the front of the Field including Fultz. Once racing restarted on lap seven, Fultz began to check out and did not meet lap traffic until lap 20, with still 15 laps remaining. Then on lap 32, a little bit of smoke was beginning to show out of the Fultz machine and here came Donnie Lawson. Fultz however was able to keep his car together and pick up his first ever feature win in a Modified after winning multiple features in a Crate Sportsman at both Woodhull and the Yates County Speedway. He said in his interview that he was very thankful to draw the pole position and the biggest difference between driving a Sportsman to a Modified was “the quality of field, they race you hard but clean, and it makes it fun for everyone.” He then went on to thank his sponsors and pit crew. Donnie Lawson went on to finish in the runner up position, followed by Mike Bills, Eric Fisher and Billy Vanpelt rounded put the top five. In the NAPA Crate Sportsman, it was Art Goodier of Osceola, Pensylvania as he led all 25 laps. Josh Sawyer, who finished in second contested Goodier from lap 18 on but it, was not enough. Tim Guild finished in third, Cory Costa and Russ Morseman rounded out the top five. Teddy Morseman picked up his third feature of the 2014 season in the Willcox Performance Street Stocks as his car was a “rocket” as he said in his interview. It did not take long for Morseman to take the lead and from there on out, Morseman checked out and cruised for the win. Rich Sharpsteen finished in the runner up position, Brett Marlatt, Kreg Crooker, and Jeredd Dennis rounded out the top five. 2013 track champion, Glenn Writenour, picked up his first feature of the 2014 season in the S&A Awards and Photos 360 Late Models. Writenour sat in third a majority of the 25 lap event before passing both Steve Lebarron and Jay McConnell on lap 23. McConnell ended up spinning out on corner four and ended up finishing in position 10. Steve Lebarron finished in second, Josh Smith was third, Cecil Lebarron and Carl Hughes rounded out the top five. Jason Gleason and Ryan Austin also picked up feature wins in the Signs Plus Mini Stocks, and Woodhull Auto Supply Front Wheel Drives. It was Gleason’s third feature win of the 2014 season, and it was Austin’s second feature win in 2014. Saturday, May 31st, it is Fireman and EMS Appreciation night, brought to you by Brico Technologies of Elmira and Wellsville. Gates for the regular big six show will be opening up at 4:30 and racing will be at 6:30.
