Woodrow Wilson was a gentleman and highly cultured. As a piece of that, he may have treated Negroes with whom he acted condescendingly but politely. Lyndon Johnson certainly had friends and colleagues who were out and out racist, and talked as if he were a racist with them, and probably was himself a racist. This matters some.
