Wool Growers Elect Officers New officers were elected to lead the New Mexico Wool Growers, Inc. (NMWGI) for the coming two years at the association’s recent membership meeting held in Roswell in late April. The slate of officers includes: Leroy Cravens, Encino, President; Punk Cooper, Mayhill, First Vice President; Bronson Corn, Roswell, Second Vice President, and James Duffey, Roswell, Secretary/Treasurer. “I want to thank Marc Kincaid, our past president, for the time and effort he put in during his term as president,” Cravens said. “I am looking forward to working with and on behalf of New Mexico’s sheep producers on issues that impact our ability to care for our land, livestock and families.” Recent rains in at least part of New Mexico, along with good markets for both lamb and wool, have Cravens feeling positive about the future of the sheep industry. “Along with all of agriculture, sheep producers have faced our share of struggles the past few years but we are still here,” Cravens said. “The quality of our product and the dedication of our producers remain strong, and I am looking forward to working on behalf of our members.” The NMWGI is the trade organization that has represented New Mexico’s sheep industry for well over 100 years.
