Word for Today. Title: You are the solution. Text: Acts 27:21-25. Word for Today. Title: Be of good cheer: God lives. Text: Acts 27:21-25. 21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. 22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any mans life among you, but of the ship. 23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, 24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. Lord, grant us insight into your word. Amen. Paul sought to have his case tried by Caesar. On his way, Paul perceived a difficulty on the journey and hence advised that they wait for a while before continuing, but they refused. Later in the journey, they encountered difficulty, lost their cargo and finally hope. As a result of their despair, the thought of food dare not crossed their minds. Paul realized the situation at hand, he stood and made an attempt to encourage and strengthen the people aboard. Paul made this statement, “ for there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve; saying, “Don’t be afraid, Paul, you must be brought to Caesar and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you”.(vrs23 &24) It is for sure that Paul had spent time in prayer. The assurance by the angel was all that Paul needed. If you read carefully, you would realize that because of Paul, the lives of the others were spared. This is because Yahweh supported his course, his decision to be tried by Caesar. He hence promised his safety and those of the people around him. Brothers and sisters, just like Paul, we may find ourselves in uncomfortable situations not by any fault of ours. These may befall us just as we seem to approach the end of the tunnel, see the fruition of our labour, but just as the angel to Paul assured encouraged and strengthened him; God also says that as long as he lives, he will see to it that whatever plans he has for your life, wherever he would want to send you, no matter the difficulty or obstacles he would ensure that you get there, for He is FAITHFUL. The people were saved because of Paul. This is similar to the story of Joseph. His presence in Potiphar’s house caused Potiphar to prosper. (Genesis 39:5) it is time we allowed Yahweh to use our presence or partaking in certain situations to save others and cause a positive change in their lives. You are at a particular place at a given dispensation or time for a specific reason. You are the solution to the problems at hand, just allow Yahweh to use you.
