Word from Stacey! From Staceys Mom Although the Internet connection was spotty, I have been able to Skype with Stacey twice and it was such a relief and to hear her voice! Stacey is re-cooperating at the guesthouse of former President of East Timor and Nobel Laureate Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta who graciously and generously invited her to stay until her passport is released and she is free to come home. At this time we have no timeframe regarding her passport situation. She told me she was so happy to have a hot shower, comfortable bed and good food and water, all of the things we take for granted everyday. But most of all she relished some privacy after living in a cell with 2 to 3 other women for nearly two months but her one wish is to be free to return home. She had been ill while in prison but is feeling a little better and was able to see a good Dr. and is now taking 3 medications. Dr. Horta has provided her with a driver so she feels safe and was able to visit with some of her friends from Dili who supported her through her ordeal in prison. She even found time on her first day out of prison to go to the hospital to try to visit a former fellow cellmate who had been taken there but she was unable to locate the woman. We are grateful to her lawyer, Dr. Paolo Remedios, for Staceys Christmas Day release from prison and for his ongoing efforts to secure her passport which he says now requires a petition to be filed with the Court. Dr. Paolo Remedios will surely be a hero to people all over the world the more quickly this is accomplished! At this time Stacey has been advised by her lawyer to not give interviews. Stacey asked me to tell you all that there is no way to express her graditude for the immense support she has received from people all over the world! Your support is what got her through this ordeal and means the world to her! Until Stacey has her passport in hand and boards the plane home WE MUST CONTINUE TO SUPPORT HER!
