Words Are Life or Death God created the world by speaking - TopicsExpress

Words Are Life or Death God created the world by speaking words. We are created in Gods image and likeness. Because of this, the words that we speak will also cause actions in the universe. We are to emulate our Savior by speaking words of kindness, love, caring, strengthening, joy, peace, encouragement, and helpful things that affect ourselves and others. The tongue can heal or kill, lift or cast down, create peace or dissension, bring joy or sadness, love or hate, and hosts of other things. Obviously, the tongue is capable of killing, stealing, and destroying, as well. Words are living things that go out to do what the mind caused the mouth to speak. That is why we will be accountable for every wrongful word that is spoken. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. Matthew 12:36 (NIV). We need to guard our thoughts because they are what produces the words that heal, kill, or destroy. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 (NIV). For by your words, you will be acquitted; and by your words, you will be condemned. Matthew 12:37 (NIV). When I was a kid, my dad used to say things to me that were not words of encouragement, but rather a curse. He spoke words such as: You will never amount to anything in this world. You will end up being a ditch digger. These type of words go forth to do what is pronounced, unless we rebuke the words. I have been a praying Christian since a very young age; so, I knew instinctively to say I rebuke those words in the name of Jesus. The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:21 (NLT). I used to counteract those words then by saying such things as: I will be everything God created me to be. I will excel in life. I will be successful in all that I do. My words drove me with ambition to excel; and I did excel with my career and spiritual quests, as well. For the Scriptures say, If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. 1 Peter 3:10 (NLT). That is a promise for happier days, if you discipline yourself to your use words to bless, and not curse people. Because we are created in Gods image, we have powers that we do not think about, such as the spoken word. To those of us who are Christians, we also have the Spirit of God residing in us. To them, God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 (NIV). Because, as Christians, we are Temples of the Living God, we should be reflecting the treasures of the Holy Spirit, both in our words and our actions. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV). Therefore, what we speak should radiate those fruits of the Spirit. Its not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth. Matthew 15:11 (NLT). And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.
