Words from Emily Wall: I cant express enough how important this is....I know Ive shared a number of this pages updates the past week, but I truly believe the people of Jinja need to know about this situation and need their voices heard. Everyone I have spoken to so far has expressed grave concern over the current plans for the Isimba dam. Its highly unlikely the power generated by the dam will reach Jinja and so many people will lose out due to the crippling effect this dam will have on the tourism industry. The current large scale plan for the Isimba dam is not the only option. A smaller option is available that would generate power whilst keeping the rapids, and therefore the tourism industry, intact. The people effected by these plans have not been considered nor consulted. I hope that with more awareness of this issue, the government here will reassess and then make its decision based on sound judgement and consideration of all sides involved.
