"Words, it seems, belong to other people. Anyone who expresses - TopicsExpress

"Words, it seems, belong to other people. Anyone who expresses themselves with originality, delight, and verbal freshness is more likely to be mocked, distrusted, or disliked than welcomed. The free and happy use of words seems to be considered to be elitist or pretentious." I hereby solemnly swear not to mock, distrust or dislike Stephen Fry who makes a very compelling case that the Grammar Nazis and pedantic correctors, who see themselves as intellectual crusaders, actually aid in "dumbing down" the language, by trying to make language use more uniform and rigid (read: boring).
