Words such as desirable, undesirable, useful, useless, good, bad - TopicsExpress

Words such as desirable, undesirable, useful, useless, good, bad are functions of the ego. It has to do with our need to make our lives into relative happiness, as in relative happiness versus absolute happiness. Relative happiness is about: This experience is better than that experience. This amount of money is better than that amount of money. This car is superior to that car. And people pursue this kind of relative happiness. If I have more than they have . . . it’s all relative. Compare this to absolute happiness—the happiness that comes internally, from the very source of the soul, which recognizes that there is value in every second of this experience. That it is not relative to what has come before . . . to what is going to come in the future. That it is a gem as it exists now. - Solomon (Ch. 22)
