Words to remember this #ConstitutionDay, from Robert Peck... This is a day that should be celebrated with parades, picnics and speeches proclaiming the enduring principles of liberty enshrined in our founding documents and charging each new generation of Americans to jealously guard their national heritage. Sadly, the majority of Americans will watch this day come and go without even knowing it’s significance. Perhaps this explains, at least in part, our willingness to elect, then constantly reelect, representatives who consistently ignore the supreme law of the land and do so with impunity. Contrary to the clear intent of the framers of our Constitution: ■Congress now hands its constitutionally prescribed duty to coin money over to a private banking cartel known as the Federal Reserve that floods our economy with fiat currency, both devaluing the dollar and enslaving the nation with debt. ■Direct, unapportioned taxes are imposed on wages. ■Presidents engage in unending military adventurism abroad without a Congressional declaration of war. ■The 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms is infringed upon by a plethora of federal regulations. ■The IRS is used as a political tool to persecute organizations with views not favorable to the present regime while Congress sites ineptly by like a neutered lapdog. ■The 4th Amendment right to privacy is ignored as the NSA unlawfully spies on every American – and the whole world. ■Congress gives the President power to arrest and detain citizens indefinitely without right to a trial. ■Innumerable un-Constitutional and extra-Constitutional bureaus, agencies and programs tell farmers what they can grow, tell city dwellers how much water they can flush down their toilet and tell all of us what health insurance we have to buy.
