Working late tonight, and trying to make sense out of the hurricane of thoughts and emotions which are battering my brain and flooding my soul. My Mother has always taught me that when caught in lifes storms, you MUST turn your face to the storm, and charge headlong into it. Any other way must certainly end with defeat. However, what if your storm is a storm that seemingly doesnt want you to face it? First it comes at you one way, then another. Then it changes its rules of combat. Where does one find the epicenter of the battle, when the front of battle is always shifting? Ive been sifting through these kind of thoughts all day, and suddenly I have come to a conclusion that I didnt expect, but was right before me all along. Being a Good person simply isnt enough. Like it or not, being nice only gets you so far. The storm of all storms, that none of us want to ever face, is the storm of facing who and what we really are. If we will face THAT storm, then all the crap life throws at us wont even matter anymore. Sermon over. Happy Thanksgiving folks! If you need a place to go for Turkey Day, come on over to my place.
