Working out who’s got their hands on the levers in the Queenscliffe Council is anyone’s guess. Last week we reported on the Council’s excellent Community Environment Alliance program which according to the Councils website is tasked with “protecting our natural assets … to ensure our environment is sustainable. Now we read in the latest Rip Rumour that the Council offered the PL Surf Club the option of building its long-awaited and much needed new clubhouse IN THE DUNES!! Apart from the enormous engineering costs, this idea is eco-vandalism and confirms the Council regards the natural environment as just another development opportunity to make some quick money, this time by enabling the sale of land used by the PLSC. The decision by the PLSC to reject such a bizarre and ill-conceived proposal is most welcome.
