Working towards reconstruction and development in Somalia On 10 November ambassador Joost Reintjes and deputy for Somalia Alain Ancion participated in the Somalia High Level Partnership Forum and the Somalia Reconstruction and Development Board Steering Committee in Mogadishu. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia asked donors to respect Somali political processes in his disagreement with the Prime Minister pertaining to a cabinet reshuffle initiated by the latter. He also asked the international donor community to deliver on development aid pledged at the Brussels conference in August 2013 and start channelling more money via country systems. Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheik Ahmed spoke of national achievements since he took office, including security gains on Al-Shabaab, the State formation process, bills introduced to Parliament, the establishment of the Finance and Governance Committee and stabilization efforts. UN, Norway and The Netherlands made strong pleas for mutual accountability and political unity in these critical times leading up to the New Deal conference in Copenhagen and the realization of Vision 2016. Ambassador Reintjes ensured the participants that The Netherlands will continue contributing to building the rule of law in Somalia, inter alia via an active role in the Peacebuilding and State building Working Group 3 on Justice.
