Workshop on Commodity Futures Market at KU today Srinagar, June 7: Department of Business and Financial Studies, University of Kashmir in collaboration with Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd and Forward Markets Commission is organizing a 2-day workshopfor Capacity Building Programme on Commodity Futures Market from Saturday. Head, Department of Business and Financial Studies, Prof. Mohiu-ud-Din Sangmi, said thatorganizing such workshops is the need of the hour. “We at department always strive toprovide quality education to our students. Inviting experts from various fields is a regular feature of the department,” Prof Sangmi said. The workshop will be held at University of Kashmir. Chairman, Forward Markets Commission, Ramesh Abhishek, who will be the Chief Guest will deliberate on recent developmentsin the Commodity Markets – Issues and Challenges. Joint Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, C. K. Mishra, will be the guest of Honour and will deliver a talk on How SMEs can benefit by hedging in Commodity futures market. MD & CEO, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, Shreekant Javalgekar, will be the present on the occasion and will provide an overview of commodity markets and benefits of the derivatives. Over 250 participants have registered themselves with the Placement Cell of the department. Besides, dignitaries from outside, Prof. Shabir A Bhat, Dean Management and Commerce would deliver lecture on need for Industry – Academic linkages and the benefits for the regional development.
