Workshop on Research Methods in Supportive Oncology A multi-disciplinary team of educators and psychosocial oncology researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital are applying for a National Cancer Institute-sponsored grant to develop a workshop on research methods in psychosocial oncology. This intensive workshop will provide an overview of approaches to conducting psychosocial research, including study design, qualitative and survey methods, and data analysis. Over the course of the workshop, participants will be supported to write a proposal or study protocol of their own under the direct mentorship of expert faculty in the field. Participants will continue to receive support after the workshop through monthly phone meetings with their workshop mentors to assist in the development and implementation of their studies at their home institutions. There would be no tuition and participants would receive a stipend for travel and lodging. Physicians, nurses, social workers, and psychologists are eligible to attend. Workshop faculty are: Jennifer Temel, MD and William Pirl, MD, MPH, who will co-chair the workshop.
