World Malaria Month Update: Go Team Kaolack! With the support of Stomp Out Malaria, 10 Peace Corps/Senegal Volunteers from four Work Zones challenged themselves to reach their rural communities through 3 activities over the next 3 months before a Universal Bed Net Distribution. Kaolack PCVs collaborated to train 10 teachers in Malaria prevention while training 200 students and community mobilizers in Malaria behavior change through the Grassroots Soccer curriculum. Team Kaolack also focused on empowering students as volunteers with Bed Net Repair and Maintenance trainings in students villages. Theyre also working to reach 1,000 community members promoting Malaria prevention and care seeking through trainings. We will celebrate and thank the beautiful villages, Work Zone Coordinator Adel Uhlarik said. (They) give us more than we can ever repay with a mural celebration reminding us every night, everyone, all year to sleep under Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs.)
