World War II veterans Kuwashi Iwataki and Shigeyuki Doi, both members of the legendary 442nd Regimental Combat Team, 100th Infantry Battalion, visited Epinal American Cemetery this week as part of a World War II 70th anniversary tour of France. Thirteen members of the 442nd are buried or memorialized at the cemetery. Doi, who served in I Company of the 442nd, came to pay his respects to his company commander Capt. Joseph Byrne. Doi was one of only nine men who was still standing in his company after the brutal fight at Bruyere/Biffontaine.
