Worst fighting in 20 years between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces on the frontline near the Armenian-occupied Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. My deepest condolences to the families of the bereaved. Rest in Peace. Azerbaijans president (if you can call him that...) Ilham Aliyev has still not made a public statement on the tragic events. Ministry of Defence has still not released any updates or real information. Azerbaijani TV channels are misreporting, underreporting or not reporting the events at all. The people of Azerbaijan deserve better than this... The families of brave perished soldiers, most just conscripts, deserve better than this. People often ask me why I am opposed to the Aliyev regime. Let me make it clear - its not primarily because of the corruption, human rights abuses or authoritarianism. It is primarily because this regime represents grievous threat to Azerbaijani national security and sovereignty. This tragic event is an example of this threat being played out. It is a regime which after 20 years in power had bought up swathes of Londons real estate market but failed to liberate even an inch of occupied Azerbaijani territories. They send 18 year old provincial kids to die as cannon fodder whilst their kids hang out in Knightsbridge. Just now I passed by Baku Lounge (owned by Taleh Heydarov...) in Green Park and it was full of drunk young Azeri rich kids having a time of their lives. SCUM! I have nothing but contempt for Bakus ruling elites... Equally I reserve my greatest contempt for all those who support, legitimise and enable the Aliyev regime. You carry the greatest burden of responsibility for all the misfortune that had befallen the country since 1993, including the deaths of these soldiers.
