Worst.run.ever. Took off in the heat of the day in Largo canyon with the gangsters. No wind, I was lazy and didnt start my run until 2:45pm. Picked a loop course that I have done several times before on the South side of the canyon. Its mostly soft terrain and sand which involves increased use of calf muscles, hamstrings, quads and gluteal muscles. No biggy- Ive run lots of sandy courses. Cept yesterday I added intervals to my 3 mile home loop. Been a LOOONG time since this guy has done intervals. It was 100 metre sprint followed by 300 metre recovery for the whole loop. Guess what? Sprinting increases the use of calf muscles, hamstrings, quads and gluteal muscles. Well, said loop used to take me an hour and I did it twice, barely making it back to the start- crap! I still had 29 minutes left to get to two hours!! Dogs looked at me funny when I headed back down the loop again. Legs heavy, cramping from sodium loss, dogs had looked at each other and said: To Hell with it- if he wants to be dumb in this hot weather, oh well. Were just gonna stay here in the shade. I just felt like crap that last 1/2 hour, no risk of overuse injury- so- the upside is that ANY run that feels better than this one is a good run.
