Would it make any difference at all to you if every day when you got out of bed that God was right there besides you? Would it make any difference if you knew that no matter what pressures you faced, what problems you have to solve, what people you have to deal with that God would be so close to you that you could reach out and touch Him and He would be there to help you? He is not only right besides you, but He lives within you and He is always around you. What robs our peace is when we focus on the problems and the pressures and the people and we forget about God. When you forget about the problems and the pressures and the people and focus on God then your gentleness will be evident to everybody. Do you know what the word “gentleness” means? It means literally “easy going.” You won’t be anxious. You won’t be nervous. You will be relaxed, because you know that God is with you and God is in control. Isaiah 26:3, one of my favorite verses in the Old Testament says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3) You see the world has it all wrong. We think peace is the absence of conflict. Peace is when everything is going our way. Peace is when we have no pressure, no problems and no difficult people in our lives, but the New Testament says otherwise. Peace is not the absence of difficulties. Peace is the presence of God. If you want your heart filled with peace and quiet – relax.
