Would like to take a moment here to thank my dear, true friend, Kate Pourshariati, for her recent (last Christmas, I think) gift to me.... a breathtakingly beautiful, mint, boxed, library bound copy of Here at Eagle Pond, a collection of poet Donald Halls lyrical meditations on his ancestral New Hampshire homestead. Not only is the writing remarkable, and evocative of so much that is disappearing from the New England landscape, but the physical book as well seems like a remnant of a vanishing way of literary life.... Lovingly printed & bound by the late, lamented Book Press of Brattleboro VT, the love and care that went into the printing and publishing of this book is immediately evident, from the quality of the paper, to the solidity of the binding, to the single sheeted woodcut illustrations. This is book lovers book, that I should expect to endure for centuries, with proper care. So, thanks, Kate, my dear! You are the BEST EVER!
