Would you believe this? I went into the office the other day, - TopicsExpress

Would you believe this? I went into the office the other day, I’m retired now, have not been in for a couple of months, but I help out with urgent jobs every now and then, as was the case this day. We got up in plenty of time, had breakfast, I said bye to my good wife, and went off in the car to the office. It’s about 15 miles away - 20 minutes to the edge of town (free car park). Jumped out of car for 10 minute walk to office. Walking along the pavement my feet felt slightly different, so I looked down at them - to my horror I discovered that I was wearing two different shoes, one black slip-on and one brown sandal. My immediate feeling was to go back to car go home and change them, but I kept on walking, and reasoned that this would be pointless - I would then be late with a wasted journey, so I decided to press on regardless. If i was found out I could I could use the excuse that the bedroom curtains were still closed and I could not see my shoes properly in the dark - that’s what happened the last time, but to be honest the curtains were opened - I just had not thought about what I was doing. To reinforce my decision I kept a close eye on anyone approaching me - no-one seemed to look at my feet, let alone me! That was a relief, but what would happen in the office. I went into reception, obtained a pass, was collected, and went upstairs to office. I said hello to everyone and sat down for my meeting, I spoke to a few people afterwards and went to see someone ............ and no -one noticed! Having gained my confidence when I left the office I ventured into the supermarket for a paper, then back to car and home - and almost forgot about the different shoes. I got away with it - so who cares about un-matching shoes anyway!!
