Would you like to get up close and personal with a live jet - TopicsExpress

Would you like to get up close and personal with a live jet engine? Elvington (Nr. York) is a lovely WWII airfield and museum with original Nissen huts set out as they would have been in the past. There’s also a NAAFI selling homemade hot and cold meals. They also have a large collection of retired aircraft both old and modern. Each year these aircraft have their engines run as a maintenance procedure and this procedure is open to the public, next Sunday 4th August will be the first this year. Did you know that Elvington’s runway is one of the longest in the UK (3000m)! It is the location where the hamster (Richard Hammond) of Top Gear fame crashed! It was one of the global emergency landing runways for the American space shuttle!
