Wow...Damn...Im late, again. I just learned today that Chuck Noll ( the famed HEAD COACH of the Pittsburgh Steelers ) died... back in June of this year. And I am NOT a Steelers fan, at all. But how did I miss that?!? Moreover, I rank him in the top 5 of NFL coaches, thus far. He was the 1st to win 4 SuperBowls in a single decade (Bill Walsh did it, later, in the 1980s) and he started with a thoroughly TERRIBLE team ( the Steelers of the late 1960s ) ... Noll built his team from the GROUND UP. He recruited mostly from HBCUs (which most did not then and even less do today) i.e. Mean Joe Greene (plus many more). He took a very bad NFL team, and a mediocre (Rookie) QB (Terry Bradshaw) and made them all 10xs better. He also gave Black men the very first chance to be HEAD COACHES in the NFL... I.E. Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin (the present HEAD COACH of Pittsburgh Steelers)....I am not a fan of too many...but I am a fan of the Great Chuck Noll aka the Emperor. He was tough but fair.
