Pond Abney Hall Park in Stockport took a few hours to drain most of the water in a downward spiral , as a giant drain on the morning of Thursday March 20. A landslide 40 feet drained most of the water of a pond in one of the major parks in Stockport . The hole in the bed of the lagoon mud believed to be well over a massive 40 feet, which is taking water away to a nearby waterfall . Working to preserve the wildlife that lives in the pond is currently underway , while walkers and park lovers have reacted with horror at the state of the old mole. Jean Goulden , president of the Friends of Abney Hall Park, said : You could see the water swirling around a giant drain. Its terrible for the community, as it is a much loved area for families and dog lovers , is our little piece of countryside in the middle of the village and we are very fortunate to have him , so were hoping that something can be done as soon as possible.
