Wow. I dont remember ever being more deeply moved by a sermon than I am today. Today at Highland we got to hear Ian Cron, Anglican priest and author of Jesus, my Father, the CIA and Me (amongst other books). He preached an incredible sermon, consecrated the Eucharist in song and sent us in benediction from St. Patrick. These words are growing roots in my heart. In the Eucharist we figure out who God is without words. At times we just need symbols. And they say that God is radically self-donating. The Eucharist can only be received it can not be taken. We are participating in the unwinding of Eden when we receive instead of take. The only thing that will heal the world is a posture of receiving. Receiving good things and daring to receive hard things.
