Wow!! I just spent an amazing hour on the phone with a perfect stranger, and I barely held back tears as he spoke! it was a God ordained time for me, I am convinced of it. I am working on a freelance writing contract for a local charity, gathering stories of people that have been helped by their organization to go in their Christmas newsletter to help solicit new donations. The interview should have taken only 10 minutes or less, however, this man just poured out his heart and his story in technicolor detail. He kept talking about FAITH, and GODS PLAN.... and believing and not wavering, and believing in the goodness of God, and being changed for the better and pushed toward a higher calling through lifes hard circumstances. He was such an encouragement to me, personally, although I got in very few words edgewise. He was a floodgate of praise, giving all credit to God, and I smile a little as I tell you his conversation was peppered with an occasional manly byword. Uber holy, uber spiritual, and carrying a harp perched upon his shoulder past his halo, he certainly was NOT. His conversation convinced me even further that the path I am embarking on, although scary, is the right path, the God path, if you will. I was only allowed half a page per client for the newsletter, and they may even edit part of this out, but I will share my draft with you so you can get the gist of this mans amazing story. And if you EVER want your car WRAPPED, then call Steve of Tiger Wrapz!! Hes got a 97% customer satisfaction rating, and is a fireball for God! STEVES STORY (draft 1) Steve and his wife were doing very well.....until Steve got sick and lost his business. Shortly afterward, his wife lost her job. The couple had to give up their nice home to move into a tiny apartment. Over the course of the next months, they were forced to sell everything; truck, cars, furniture, all except one small economy car. They struggled to even make rent and utilities on the tiny apartment. When the holiday season rolled around, they were in dire straits. Steve had no money for a Thanksgiving turkey, not even flour in the cupboard for simple gravy. In desperation, he went to the XYZ to see if they could help. Steve pauses, with a catch in his voice, as he tells us I never saw myself there...asking for food from the XYZ pantry just so we could have something to eat for Thanksgiving...without them, what would I have done? Steve later found a job as district manager for a Souper Salad, and his wife found work with a trucking company. They werent living in the lap of luxury, but it was a vast improvement. Steve donated his nice suits and shirts from his prior life to XYZ. Then he went to work for a sign company. From there, Steve got the idea to start a car wrapping business. He gives God 100% of the credit. He and his partner struggled hard to keep the doors open for the first year, but then the business took off. 3 years later, he has 10 employees, and soon opening a second store. Steve gives back to his community by providing good jobs with a Christmas bonus through his business. About that holiday turkey......Steve tells us I was so grateful for the XYZ pantry, and how they made it possible for us to have Thanksgiving when we had nothing. Last year, my partner and I bought 75 turkeys, with everything to go with them for a holiday meal, and we brought those turkeys in for the XYZ angels. Then we bought some Christmas toys for the kids. I never want to forget where I came from. I am so grateful for how God changed my life and rearranged my priorities through hard times. God truly came through for us with XYZ, so now Im giving back through XYZ so others can eat through the holidays! Steves story could be yours or mine. Most of us will probably encounter a difficulty at some point in life, no one is exempt. Share a little hope, a little light, whatever you can. When you bless others, you too will be blessed!
