Wow I think its about time that the Ag societies took a darn good look at the cost to exhibitors, you charge us so bloody much and what do we get back a ribbon (which I give back, hoping to help out with their costs) not sure why I bother doing that when its not reciprocated. They charge an arm and a leg to get in the gate, then its class entry fees and now most of them have increased their entry fee and taken away the prize money, do they not realise for most of us this is a hobby and with out the exhibitors (I dont just mean horses, its everything crafts, cattle, sheep. goats wood chopping ect.) you have nothing for the general public to see and therefor you would only be running a carnival not an Agricultural show. I understand there are a lot of expenses involved with running a show and by no means think that our entries should be free, but Im a way over the double dippng, charging class fees admission fees oh and then charge the public to come and see all the people who have paid to be there!!!!
