Wow. If anyone had told me 1-1/2 years ago that this day would come, I would have told them they were crazy. My son, who for many years has struggled and has been a challenge to most of us, has done a 180 degree turn. All brought about by that one teacher who changes your life. He discovered that my son has a very analytical mind and excelled in math. Eric, a senior in high school, has since taught himself calculus and has written a theorem which he is hoping to get published. Tonight he met with a math professor from DePaul and discussed his work. After 1-1/2 hours the professor offered to help validate the theorem and also to write a letter of recommendation. Someone recently told me Erics story almost sounds too good to be true. This was a GREAT day! I am so proud of him! Two takeaways - Those teachers DO exist. And never give up on someone!
