Wow!! My heart is so heavy right now. Stuart Scott, professional sports analyst, family man, spiritually inclined, an intellectual and activist on various social issues. But before all of that, he was a Tarheel!!! I remember Stuart being very active on the Chapel Hill campus and my fondest memory was of him trying to coerce me to pledge Alpha Phi Alpha. I havent seen Stuart in years, but I cheered from the sidelines as he ascended up the sports casting ladder. I first saw him covering the Orlando Thunder in the World Football League and next thing you know, hes on prime time television. Hes a great example of hard work paying off, despite the obstacles he faced as an African American in the media industry. He was a great humanitarian, advocating for various charities and worthy causes. Most of all I remember that infectious smile and humorous whit that he always displayed on the set and in person. It hurts so much to see the death of Stuart Scott, but he lived an exemplary life, one we can all take something from. Im going to miss my TARHEEL classmate, but Im so happy that hes not suffering anymore. My prayers go out to Stuarts girls and his family. Stuart is now enjoying the real CAROLINA BLUE, which is Heaven. Rest in Peace my friend and alumnus, youre already sorely missed. TARHEEL FOREVER!!!
