Wow! Usually not a fan of posting stories on facebook, but this one really took me by surprise and shows the generousness and immense care that Japanese people have. From Dubai to Tokyo I pretty much slept the entire flight until the last 30 minutes. I wasnt sure how Tokyos subway system worked so I decided to ask the person sitting next to me. I asked him how I would get to a location in Tokyo and engaged in a small conversation of where did you go, etc. Turns out the guy and the girl were a couple; a very amazing couple: Hiro is a doctor and Michiko is a bank worker.... damn where do you find these people?! Much Respect. After small talking, we went to immigration... and that was probably the worst part about my trip in Japan. Japanese people had a waiting line of 20 seconds, whereas other nationals had a waiting line of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Not knowing that, I bid my farewell and wishes to the two and sure as hell they would go home as it was 11 pm. After the long 1 hour wait of finally passing immigration, I rush to get my luggage...and no way, these 2 actually waited for me. Who wouldve thought that city people, from a metropolitan such as Tokyo, would even consider waiting 1 hour for someone they talked to for 20 minutes on a plane. I really felt goosebumps when that happened and as soon as contact details exchange, my experience in Japan became a lot better. The couple decided to treat me to a Japanese traditional meal; Large Eel grilled and put on rice....didnt think I would eat that, but wow it was really good. They toured me around Tokyos old town, Asakusa and told me a lot about Japanese life and working style. A small conversation on a plane leads to an amazing experience that I wont forget. I noticed that Japanese people all around, from Tokyo to Kyoto to Osaka, are really kind people. I have been fortunate to meet these people and help me throughout the journey. With lots of respect to Mika Ko who helped me settle and get the Tokyo vibe and treated me to honestly the best sashimi I have ever had. Thanks guys! Tokyo = worth it.
