Wow. Yes. This is so true. I was talking with Linda Sue about catching up at NY SCBWI and was thrilled to meet her, when she won the Newbery. Cynthia Lord was the kindest person to me, introducing herself via Yellaboard and ride-sharing with Mona Pease to MY first NESCBWI conference, and it was a blast. Right down to not being able to attend the big kids workshops at the time. (I ended up having a blast singing Janis Joplin to the appreciation of Pegi Deitz Shea. Cindy had SOLD her book, but it hadnt been released yet and it was a long circuitous journey that might have driven a lesser person mad, so she wasnt qualified to go workshops- and if Id been smart enough to understand what was going on, Id had a few credits to my name, from book covers in the 80s to a few online articles, so I COULD have gone, but had more fun lounging and gouging peoples ears, lol). The point? You dont know where its sent. You dont know where you meet people on their journey. Ive been gifted with meeting EXTREMELY GIFTED people. Usually before everyone else catches up to them. What is the matter with people, this pee-on stuff has GOT to go.
