Wow, if I wasnt already waxing nostalgic, I attended a retirement luncheon today for one of the attorneys in the USAO. Its been eight years ago today that I retired from that office, with 37 years total federal service! I worked there for eight of those 37 years. So hard to believe. I was truly a youngster when I began my career right out of high school. Recognized about 1/4 of the people, and had not been in their new office space. Times have certainly changed! My former supervising attorney was there, so it was good to see him. We have kept in touch through the years. Upon leaving, I realized why I dont go downtown to visit more often. It was $8 for just over two hours of parking in the lot I used to park in! On the way home, I remembered yet another anniversary occurring the end of October. Ive been living in my little, paid-for house for 36 years! Granted, I would have to say that I mostly cohabitate with my stuff, but I am so grateful for it. I know my brothers are glad they havent had to help me move again. I doubt they would show up now! And, on October 30, my dad would have been 85 years old. Twenty years ago, at a bonfire cookout on the hill behind my Aunt Maurines house, we honored his 65th birthday, and I watched him and my Aunt Jean do a little jitterbug to the country music being played. So wish I had a video! Hopefully, theyre kicking up some dust in heaven with my Uncle Carlis and my mother, since Jean just joined them two weeks ago. Who has time for witches and hobgoblins with all these ghosts haunting my memories! Glad I have my nephews wedding to go to in a few days to soak up some more love from my family, and make more memories. Its all good!
