Wow it has been a long time since my last speeding ticket. I know - TopicsExpress

Wow it has been a long time since my last speeding ticket. I know that if you are from Hamlet that is probably a surprise. Yes in my teenage years I burned up the streets of Hamlet and I paid a heavy price for my mistakes. But it has been years since I was last sited for speeding. I think the last time was in my 1980 diesel Rabbit. Yesterday I got a ticket for driving 45 miles an hour in my 95 Buick Roadmaster Station wagon. It was at 842 AM in Greenville county. Here in Boiling Springs the school zones are well marked and the speed limit is 35 mph until 830 AM. Guess what, yes in Greenville county the limit is 25 and it last until 930 AM. The kids have been in class since 800 AM but the later time gives the local police a longer hunting season. There is no doubt I am guilty. I did not see the sign but I am sure it was there. The policemans equipment is accurate I am sure even thought my speedometer said 38 when I saw him. He saw me first. I was looking at my new tachometer and it read 1200 rmp. That is just a little more than an idol. When I was a teenager it would have probably been closer to 6000 rpm. The old station wagon was loafing along behind another car and not gaining on it but he picked me out of the convoy. I did not feel like I was speeding and I usually know when I am. The fine for this crime is $185. Imagine that is a pretty good chunk out of my social security check. Damn I can remember when fines in SC were 15 dollars and I thought that was to much. I will just have to go to court and see if the judge will give me a little break on the fine. Watch those school zones my friend even after all the kids have gone inside, the local police may hang around to write a few more tickets before lunch. Thanks for reading my mind! Does anyone know anyone in Greer who can help?
