Wow, things are crazy busy. After a whirlwind of signings and book promotion, we had a couple of conventions. Then we had one of Pattys friends who happens to be an excellent horse trainer come spend ten days working with our horses (while Patty tried to get writing in at night) and we just returned from a trip to California that was MOSTLY just for fun, centering on carousels and horse breeding facilities (and I must pick up my hammer and begin building, for Patty has seen cool things that must be built. . .). Today were heading north for a wedding of some dear friends, and then weve got just a day or two to batten down the hatches on everything before we head out to Germany. As soon as we return, well have to take ANOTHER California run to pick up the mare Patty bought last fall, along with two surrogate mares carrying her babies for next spring. 2600 miles in three days with a huge horse trailer -- NOT a fun trip. I hope theres enough diet Mountain Dew along the way to keep my aging body upright and awake! And, of course, the writing that keeps all the bills paid has to be fit into this crazy schedule and I have to keep the farm running. Oh, and two of our kids are moving in the next month, and will need a bit of assistance. Who needs sleep? So, if it feels like were ignoring you, be patient. Ive already told Patty shes crazy for stacking so much into this Spring, and shes claiming that she TRIED, really TRIED to keep a light schedule. Im looking at how many miles weve flown over the last year, and thinking we need to try harder! :-) Oh, and just as an aside, we bought a new car last fall, because wed run the wheels off of the old one. Weve already got 38K miles on the new one. Its the gypsys life for me!!! However, weve both come to the conclusion that this is crazy, and were trying to cut back on travel so Patty can focus on writing. Honest! -Mike-
