Wow this man Just took it to a totally different level. Its just another example of a lot of feminists that have an a la carte attitude towards it, meaning you can do this, I want this sort of thing, but they take it too far, he said. As a woman that has lived and walked in ALL different kinds of neighborhoods in NYC you begin to develop a Jungle mentality (hence the term Concrete Jungle) . Youve become prey and are subjected to the harassment and objectified to the liking and entertainment of most men. Even more so, you ALSO learn that NOT being nice can get you hurt and/or harassed. Example, I was once asked for my phone number on the train ,when I refused politely ,I was harassed and followed throughout the train car and the man eventually grabbed me and I had to dash out at the next stop terrified. Ive also seen women get items thrown at them ,verbally assaulted and/or followed if they didnt respond to the hey beautiful remarks- and this man claims we like this? I have never stopped to talk to a man after a cat call no matter how good looking he might have been and the only thing this type of behavior has ever done is make me feel insecure about myself. It forced me to think twice about wearing a fitted top or tight jeans, its forced me to avoid certain alleyways and streets, its forced me to be fearful of the attention, its forced me to feel everything BUT beautiful. He claims we should all get guns to protect ourselves if we dont like it , then I guess hes saying its your turn to fear us now? This man is an a$$ and any other man that thinks this way is an a$$ too. Oh and the racial & cultural thing is a whole different issue- trust me, I can write a whole dissertation about that topic -But Ill save that rant for another day.. Happy Monday Beautiful
