Wow, this news is a bit of a shock; though with all his years racing I think Colin is making the right decision, too. Colin is one of my all-time-favorite personalities in racing. Hes so genuine and has been from the first time I met him when he raced TZ250s. Unlike most of the racers who shoot into stardom, Colin never switched girlfriends as the money came. Instead, Colin stuck with the lovely Alyssia, and appear to have a wonderful life together. Alyssia seems quite a match to Colin when it comes to speaking ones mind, too! Colin has the same confident, straight-talking personality that hes always had and a sense of humor that regularly leaves the pressroom with tears of laughter. He speaks his mind like no one else in racings modern era, with the possible exceptions of Cal Crutchlow, Casey Stoner and Mat Mladin. As a journalist, these guys are so refreshing to deal with. And as a race fan, I will miss not having Colin in MotoGP. Im sure the Texas Tornado Boot Camp will keep the Edwards Family busy and happy with plenty of education and entertainment to share with us. Now, if we could only combine Colins dirt-track training with the Schwantz School and form some sort of Future American World Champion Academy! Spain hired Kenny Roberts to start their system thats literally taken over MotoGP, Valentino Rossi has launched his VR46 Riders Academy. Lets get these two Texan World Champions teamed up to make Americans a force in the World Championships again.
