Writing criminal statutes or contracts and computer programming are essentially the same process, albeit to different ends. Basically youre saying: when this happens, do this, but if that happens then do this other thing. If...Then...Else... will be a concept every coder will be intimately familiar with. The difference is that in Law youre programming in natural languages like English or Spanish, not highly structured, mathematically unambiguous code. In any complex legal system youre going to come up with edge cases, situations that fall through the cracks and for which nobody has written that final else clause.....
