X Factor: Abi Alton taken to hospital after falling down stairs X Factor hopeful Abi Alton was rushed to hospital last night (October 20). The 19-year-old singer was seen being taken away on an ambulance stretcher after falling down some stairs on set. She tripped and fell down a number of steps, landing awkwardly on her back in the incident. It is believed that the steps in question were connected to the stage, and that it happened just minutes after she discovered she had made it through to next week. She explained on Twitter: fell down some stairs, landed on the edge of one on my back- thankful its not worse + confident ill continue performing x out of hospital and thankfully there is no serious damage. She is absolutely fine. I think shes going to be okay. Shelley Smith became the second act to be eliminated on this years X Factor last night.
