Recorded Webinar - “Communication on Engagement (COE) Policy” webinar conducted 23 May 2013 On 23 May 23 the Global Compact Office conducted a webinar exclusively for Local Networks explaining the details of the upcoming “Communication on Engagement (COE) Policy”, which introduces a reporting requirement for non-business participants. As explained during the webinar, the policy took shape after concerns raised by Local Networks and was drafted according to the feedback received in a series of consultations, including among Local Networks. All Local Networks, especially those who did not attend the May webinar, are advised to review this recorded webinar and the presentation. Please wait to share this with external parties until the Global Compact begin to officially communicate this policy publicly in September 2013. Please help us to avoid creating unnecessary confusion among our non-business participants, and potentially overloading our offices with individual queries that could be easily addressed through the communication strategy in September / October. 2. The Global Compact Participation Integrity Policy All business and non-business entities that apply to become signatories of the UN Global Compact undergo a series of due diligence procedures in New York. Local Networks have a major role to play on that front as they are more aware of the potential new participants and they also have a critical role in this vetting process. The Global Compact Office believes it is extremely important to ensure that all Local Networks are aware of the UN Global Compact Participation Criteria. Please follow the UN Global Compact Participation Criteria when vetting on the participation of a new signatory in your country.
