Xavier is also proud to announce that Rongel Marcil, from Palau, and a freshmen at Xavier High School and active member of Earth Council (XHS’ environmental organization), was selected from many global applicants to be one of six Global Delegates to the Global Youth Eco-Leadership Summit (GYELS) this February. Rongel attended GYELS, which is co-hosted by Samsung Engineering and the Korea Green Fund, February 11th-15th in Seoul, Korea to learn more about various environmental topics as well as engage with delegates from other countries in discussion about issues and solutions surrounding the topic of “Climate and Sustainable City.” The majority of the GYELS consisted of the Global Youth for the Environment forum at Seoul National University where he attended lectures on a variety of environmentally themed topics. Rongel presented two Powerpoints, one on Micronesia and one on his ideal sustainable city, during Session Programs after lectures. Rongel also had the opportunity to sight-see, visiting Everland Amusement Park, Gyeongbok Palace, and Insa-dong.
