Xminista ProfGriff had a song back in 1990, I believe, which sampled the 1977 hit by Slave called Slide. In his version entitled Pawns In the Game the lyrics reflected the title, Were like pawns in the game. Too many of us ARE like pawns in the game of chess. We are only concerned with the space immediately in front of us and we never seem to see the big picture or grand strategy. We obstruct the forward progress or movement of other pieces/people and if there is an obstacle in the way we can never attack it directly but we indirectly attack other obstacles, issues or people at angles that have nothing to do with what lies directly before us. In order for us to advance and grow and be promoted to a higher level of existence or understanding, we have to be painstakingly moved 6 spaces by others with control to the end of the board. The pawn is never moved or moves itself to advance itself or its own ideas, it is manipulated by a higher hand for someone elses purpose to block the advancement of others. Now, some pawns are necessary in war and business. The sad part is that many that see themselves or think themselves to be kings and queens, bishops (clergy/saints/scholars) or knights (warriors/soldiers) dont recognize the roll they are really playing and that they are functioning as nothing more than pawns in the game. youtu.be/1D7DDrTDkT4
