YAK – A – DU KAYAK DUATHLON 2 MILE RUN - 2 MILE KAYAK - 2 MILE RUN SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 2014 (8am) (NEW LOCATION) HENDERSON POINT, PASS CHRISTIAN, MS General information: This is a fun race event consisting of individuals running 2 miles around and onto the Bay St. Louis Bay bridge path, out and back. Then paddling 2 miles out and back on a protected bayou. Finally running the same 2 mile run course again to the finish. The race will be a good tune-up for people getting ready for the PPP later next month; however, this will be a solo event only. No teams or relays for the Yak-A-Du. Place: 90 Ponce De Leon Blvd. on Henderson Point in Pass Christian. This is under the east side of the Bay St. Louis Bridge. From Hwy 90, go west on Bayview St. & then north on 3rd Ave. under the bridge. Plenty of parking available there. Cost: $15. We will have T-shirts for participants. The rest of the entry fee money will be used for refreshments and awards. There will be no pre-registration. Just come sign up on race day beginning at 7am. To reserve a boat call Bay Breeze Kayaks (466-3333). Cost of the rental is $20. It is in addition to the entry fee. Bring your own kayak if you have one or borrow one to avoid this additional cost. Double-bladed paddles allowed with any type kayak, canoe or board. Awards: Top 3 overall males/females and 1st place masters, grandmasters, seniors. Also awards to the top 2 in the 5 year groups. Additional awards may also be given depending on the number of participants and supply of awards. Results: Will be posted at gulfcoastrunningclub.org later on race day.
