YEAH!!!! THANK YOU TO ANYONE THAT CARED AND GOT INVOLVED. LOVE, TO OUR FUTURE PLANET AND LOVED ONES, MARY Stop the Keystone XL nrdconline.org/site/R?i=ecd2EM1msP59dL8iNIhMpg U.S. SENATE VOTES AGAINST KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE! nrdconline.org/site/R?i=V7NDKE3GBKEIz3g4zQvmPA In a close, come-from-behind victory, the U.S. Senate defeated a bill to force approval of the climate-wrecking Keystone XL pipeline. Dear Mary, BIG NEWS: Last night, the U.S. Senate rejected a bill that would have forced approval of the climate-wrecking Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. The Senate’s historic vote is a major victory for NRDC and more than 90,000 Members and online activists like you who called on their U.S. Senators to do the right thing and vote No on this polluter-sponsored legislation. This misguided bill would have green-lighted the Keystone XL pipeline, dramatically increasing production of Canadian tar sands oil, one of the dirtiest fuels on the planet. It would endanger the American heartland, worsening our dependence on fossil fuels and accelerating climate change. Read more about last night’s vote at NRDC.org. This is the first battle we’ve waged against Big Oil’s Congressional allies in the wake of the recent election. They came out with guns blazing -- but we mounted a tremendous outpouring of public opposition. And against all odds, we won -- by one single vote. And we have you to thank. You showed Congress that its Big Polluter Agenda won’t fly with the American people, who are committed to fighting climate change. But make no mistake: the real battle for America’s clean energy future is just beginning. A new Congress that’s much more friendly to Big Oil returns in January, and Mitch McConnell has already vowed to bring Keystone XL back for another vote -- so we must be ready to respond even more rapidly and in greater numbers than we did this week to make sure environmental champions and the President stop the entire McConnell Big Polluter Agenda in its tracks. We must also mount an all-out campaign to compel President Obama to stand up to the oil giants, determine that the tar sands pipeline is not in our national interest and reject it once and for all. We’ll be counting on your help in the critical months ahead as these fights unfold. But today, please join me and all of us at NRDC in appreciating a job well done in last night’s incredible Senate victory. And thank you for standing alongside us in opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline.
