YES These Hard Times – UNITY is the key Dear Friends, Colleagues, Members & Fellow Activist’s, During these hard times we have to remember that UNITY is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. Where there is unity there is victory. In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure. • YES the cost of living is rising exponentially with all prices being driven by the oil barons and the fat cat bankers. • YES the cost of living is going up and the chance of living is going down. • YES your employer agrees to give you a work life balance but at what cost. • YES your daily costs of Food, Clothing, Petrol, Gas, Rent & Insurance are on a constant increase. • YES you are going to be working longer and your pension is going to be worth less. • YES the rich are getting richer and the poor are struggling more and more. • YES each passing day thousands of more jobs across the country are moving into the low paid bracket. • YES with more families turning to food banks and charities for help and support. • YES with the Government and Employers putting fear into each and every one of us with threats to job security through downsizing, change of contracts, changes to terms and conditions and let’s not forget outsourcing. WE say NO to all of these, WE can prevail, WE can come through this barrage of attack by standing in UNITY against these austerity measures, only in UNITY will we send a message that we will not stand for this no more. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender. Winston Churchill It’s time to put the past behind us, the miners were buried, the dockers were sunk and the butter mountain melted. This is our time, this is our place in history and only in UNITY and all working together for our better future will we overcome the tyranny of the CONDEM coalition government. You have made the first step in the right and one and only direction you have pulled together and rejected the fourth pay cut in as many years. WE now need to keep this momentum moving in the right direction, so ask not what your branch and union is going to do for you, but ask what you can do with YOUR union. Finally, let’s understand that when we stand together, we will always win. When men and women stand together for justice, we win. Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.
