YESTERDAY, THE SIERRA LEONE LAW COURT WAS ON FIRE. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE JURY, I LIKE TO SUBMIT TO YOU THAT THIS WAS AN ACT OF ARSON, A CONTINUATION OF CORRUPTION THAT IS ENDEMIC IN SIERRA LEONE. ...The basement of the Law Court Building in Freetown which houses the office of the Under Sheriff Mr. Fattah Deen Gabisie caught fire in the evening of Wednesday 24th September 2014. The Under Sherrifs office was destroyed by fire. Amongst items affected was the Safe where cash is kept from sales of property auctioned by the court. According to this reporter’s findings, some recent case files for high court and magistrate court proceedings were also torched by the flames. On arrival at the scene, the Chief Justice, Lady Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh was heard expressing surprise at the extent of the fire and did not rule out possible foul play. Money in the Safe is estimated at a huge sum. Also at scene of the fire accident, the Chief Fire Officer Kamanda Bongay said full investigations into the cause of blaze will start today, 25th September 2014. Security was then deployed .
