YOKE ~ CROSS ~ THORN 1.) When we want to follow the Lord, we are called to serve Him in submission and discipline out of love for Him. So THE YOKE becomes easy and the burden light, the love makes it so. There is no better place to find peace than learning at the feet of the Lord Jesus as Mary did in Luke 10:38-42. Taking His yoke teaches us the service we render to Him out of love for Him. This also teaches us submission and discipline in our walk with Him in the light of His Word. 2.) THE CROSS speaks of death to self-will. When we submit to Gods will, we take up the cross that can bring pain, sorrow and persecution in our lives. Cross is a symbol of sufferings for the Lord as we obey and surrender to do His Will. 3.) THE THORN is any kind of pain that we face to keep us humble. The thorn can be in our body, mind, circumstances and people. At times, we can remove our thorn if we have created it. If we cannot, we have ot endure and God gives grace and strength to endure it without grumbling and complaining. God can turn our thorns into blessings for us and others, if we endure with patience and glorify Him. Since man is proud and boastful by nature, God has mercy not willing any man to perish, so He causes thorn to keep man humble so God can bless and exalt him. - Othniel Andrew
